The Book Stall’s ScreenBreak Schedule, March 4-9, 2013

Monday, March 4th. 4 p.m.  The Best of the Book Stall: Miss Amy reads her favorite new picture books! Celebrate the power of the picture book, with this after-school storytime featuring our beloved Miss Amy. No registration required. We provide a treat.  (Ages 3 and up.)

 

 

lucia.jpegTuesday March 5th, 4:30 p.m.  Story-teller extraordinaire Lucia Luckett-Kelly returns to The Book Stall with a program called Tummy, Yummy Delicious Tales! She will tell stories, with finger plays, games and recorded music.    Lucia Luckett-Kelly is a creative specialist who combines creativity and excitement towards her various stories from Around the World. As a professional storyteller she enjoys making people smile while sharing unusual tales to audiences of all ages. Mrs. Luckett-Kelly is a Drama instructor at Quest Academy, in Palatine, IL. No registration required.  (Ages 4-12.)

 

avengers.gifWednesday, March 6th at 4:30 p.m.  Avengers Assemble!  Calling all super-hero fans!  Join us for a celebration of the world’s greatest super heros. We’ll watch a film clip or two, read a bit about some of the most powerful beings on the planet, and then work on a create-your-own superhero (or super villain) writing and drawing project. Space is limited.

Thursday, March 7th, 7:00 p.m.  Meet Blue Balliett, best-selling author of acclaimed mysteries for children including Chasing Vermeer and The Danger Box. Her wonderful new novel Hold Fast, set in Chicago, has just been released. This event is co-sponsored and takes place at The Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton St. in Skokie, Il. The event is free, but you should register on the library’s website or by calling them at 847.324.3149. (Ages 9 to adult)

Join us for a special Friday night storytime designed to relax and entertain you at the end of a busy week. Curl up and listen to great tales to send you off the Land of Nod. A craft and story hour based on Brenda Ferber's book The Yuckiest, Stinkiest Valentine Ever. It is a story about a talking Valentine that jumps out the window and runs away. Brenda Ferber is a Highland Park native who lives in Chicago with her husband and three children.

Registration is freeLimit 20 kids. 

Recommended for ages 4-7.

 

 

STAR WARS ORIGAMI WORKSHOP

Saturday, February 16th

3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

 

The force will be strong within you as we create some Star Wars origami. Join us for this special workshop and create some awesome Star Wars items with paper.
